Does Pets on Lex (of NYC) get their puppies from puppy mills?
We’ve heard very good things about this pet store. I know there is a very high probability that the puppies come from puppy mills but is their any chance that they don’t?
VERY small chance they get their dogs from irresponsible breeders but not very likely and not much better than mills.
The ONLY places that will sell pet stores pups at prices that the store can turn profit on would be puppy mills – mills sell pups for $100-$300 and the stores sell them form $800+. ANY responsible breeder who put money and time/effort into the health, temperament, and well being of their breeding dogs and resulting puppies would not allow someone else to sell their pups – PERIOD.
If you want a puppy, be RESPONSIBLE about obtaining it and buy from a reputable breeder (who shows/works, genetic tests, and has a sound contract) or from a shelter.
